Troubleshooting
App not available to closed-test testers
Check the release track, country availability, Google Group membership, and opt-in URL in that order.
Checked and updated August 2026
Fix it in this order
- Confirm the closed-track release is published. While it is still a draft or in review, testers see the app as unavailable.
- Check that the release is available in the tester's country or region.
- Confirm the tester's Google account is on the email list or in the Google Group attached to that closed track.
- Have the tester accept the opt-in URL in a browser signed into that account, then install from the Play Store link on the opt-in page.
- If the device has several Google accounts, switch the Play Store to the invited one before searching or opening the link.
What to capture
- The tester's Google account and country.
- The release status on the closed track and its country list.
- The exact message the tester sees and where they see it.
Avoid resets without evidence
Changing tracks, groups, and releases at the same time hides the actual cause. Resolve one failed boundary, verify it, then continue.
